Drill rods compatible with the Ditch Witch JT4020
The JT4020 is Ditch Witch’s step into the heavy class. Its 73 mm outside diameter rod with a 10 mm wall and 4,5 m length carries 16.000 Nm of torque. On the M1 series the body grows to 83 mm, torque to 18.000 Nm and the bend radius to 65 m.

Why these figures matter
A 4,5 m rod length saves time on long crossings by cutting the number of joints: on a 200 m bore it removes roughly 15 connections compared with 3 m rods. In return the site needs a longer rod handling and laydown area.

Are the JT4020 and JT4020M1 rods the same?
No. The standard JT4020 uses a 73 mm body, the M1 an 83 mm body, and the tool joint grows from 82,5 mm to 89 mm. Do not order without confirming your model code.
Can 4,5 m rods be used on any site?
No. Feeding the rod into the machine needs a straight area behind the entry pit longer than the rod itself. On narrow urban streets a smaller class running 3 m rods can be more practical.
How long a crossing can this class do?
Distance is set by ground, pipe diameter, mud programme and rig pullback, not by the rod. The 16.000 Nm torque class is built for long crossings; share your bore profile and we will assess it together.
