Equipment & consumables catalogue

HDD Equipment

An HDD project is more than the rig. A different tool set works at every stage from pilot bore to pullback: rods, directional bit, sonde housing, locator, reamer, swivel and thread adapters. Boremak supplies all of them from stock in İzmir, compatible with different rig brands.

By bore stage

Which tool at which stage?

The catalogue order is not random; the tools are listed by the stage at which they work in a real HDD bore. Knowing the stage also tells you which item has to match which.

2

Back-reaming

Once the pilot bore is through, the bit comes off, a reamer goes on at the exit side and the rod string is pulled back to enlarge the hole in stages above the pipe diameter. Soil class sets the reamer type; target diameter sets the number of passes.

3

Pullback

On the final pass a swivel and pulling head are fitted between the reamer and the pipe. The swivel stops the rod rotation being transferred to the pipe; the pulling head carries the pipe against the force.

Brand-independent

STETON, Vermeer, Ditch Witch and others.

Rod tables give sizes and torque figures per Vermeer and Ditch Witch model; adapters bridge different thread standards. Sonde housings and swivels are chosen by your rig thread and pullback class. Buy them together with STETON HDD rigs or separately for the rig you already own.

Frequently asked

About choosing HDD tooling.

What equipment does HDD need besides the rig?

Drill rods, a directional bit or rock bit, a sonde housing, locator and transmitter, reamers, a swivel, a pulling head and thread adapters. Bentonite and consumables come on top.

How do I choose drill rods?

The rig thread standard and torque capacity come first; then rod diameter, length and minimum bend radius. A rod must not have a lower maximum torque than the rig. The rod page lists sizes and torque figures for Vermeer and Ditch Witch models.

How is the reamer diameter decided?

The usual rule is a final reamed diameter of about 1.5 times the pipe outside diameter; the passes are planned from soil class and rig capacity. Mixing reamers for clay, fly-cutters for gravel, hammer reamers for rock.

Which transmitters fit the sonde housings?

Side-load and rear-load housings are available for common transmitters such as DCI, Subsite and Radiodetection, and for different rig thread standards. Tell us your transmitter model and rig thread.

Can I get tooling for a rig of another brand?

Yes. Compatible rods, adapters and tooling for Vermeer, Ditch Witch and other brands ship from stock alongside STETON.
